So basically, I would like to splice my xbox wires and connect it to a usb cable so I can connect it to my computer, well, I dont really want to have to go over to radioshack and spend 15 dollars if I dont have to - so, I was wondering if a usb to mini usb cable would work?

I have like three of those laying around and would like t make use of them if possible :]

Wait, what? I don't really understand your question.

If it's a USB cable that plugs into your computer then it will work.

as long as you have a male USB A connector it's all good. just match the colours. some controllers use different colours but it's not hard to figure out e.g. some have blue for black and pink for red.

the best way is to replace the in-line release with USB connectors. just cut the connectors from the cable and splice a female usb connector to the cable with the controller plug, then splice the male connector to the controller side. then all you need to do is connect the two together it will function with your xbox. disconnect the controller cable and you have a USB controller. the best part is then you can also use the controller plug-usb socket adapter for USB devices on the xbox.
