Default USB Cable

I only have 4 USB ports on my Rear IO panel, but i have more that i can activate by installing a usb cable.

The plug on the cable looks like this:

but on the mobo it looks like this:

::::.

are those 2 compatible, does that extra pin matter?

That extra pin should make no difference, I do not use it on my motherboard, and I don't know what it does. But make sure you plug it in the right way round, because if you don't it can cause some damage.

it is often a ground or a pin that carries no current and is only there to provide impedance to avoid attenuation. i don't use all teh pins on my usb headers for my cases front usb connectors and it werks.
