So, with my stupidity i busted my audio port on my laptop when the speaker wire was caught on my chair and... pulled the port out.

Now... I found some of those "USB 2.0 TO AUDIO JACK" converters for dirt cheap on ebay (2$ + 6$ shipping).

I am here to ask if any body knows if it will yield a similar quality to an average audio jack??

Yeah, they do. Check that they use a decent chip, and if so, then they're probably fine.

Infact, one might say that the quality would be improved. I trained at a recording studio, and the guys there told me that external sound cards are less prone to interference than internal ones, more specifically onboard sound.
