 |  SCSI Drives I was cleaning out my closet and found 5 Seagate ST34572WC drives ("4.3 - GB WIDE - ULTRA SCSI", 80-pin SCA). There anything useful I can do with them for cheap? EDIT Crap, wrong section. Could a mod please move this to Other?

| Re: SCSI Drives 4.5GB is more useful to me than some strong magnets :P Im considering putting together an http/ftp server when I move out, instead of paying for http hosting. Are 80-pin scsi controllers affordable? Or for that matter, what would be the cheapest way to hook up all five to a normal mobo? Im thinking of going RAID5 for a total of around 17GB - anyone have other suggestions?

| Re: SCSI Drives they do not make such a thing (80 pin controllers) 80 SCA is for hot swappable backplanes. but what you could do is get 80 -> 68pin adapters for all of them they are like 6 bucks a piece

| Re: SCSI Drives You'll probably spend more getting those drives up and running, and invest considerible time, than you would just buying a $50 250gb SATA drive.

| Re: SCSI Drives Time isnt a big deal, since it doesnt cost me anything, but youre right, it probably wouldnt be cheap to find a SCSI controller. Ill keep my eyes open though. Most of them would have some sort of hardware RAID built in, right? Adaptec AAA-131U2 SCSI RAID Controller Card & Cable - (eBay.ca item 280224749756 end time 13-May-08 16:12:48 EDT) Thats exactly what I need, except for the adapters.
