Default Reformatting a compaq

I'm not sure if this is in the right section, but here it goes.

I have a Compaq Presario.

I want to reformat the hard drive - without using the restore CD's. I have a copy of windows and all of the programs I want.

Do I NEED to use the restore CD's? I've reformatted it using them before, and it was fine, I just don't want to use them this time.

Yup, this should be in the OS/Software forum.

But to answer your question, you will probably need the Drivers CD that usually comes with a new computer.

You don't have to use the system restore CD if you don't want to, but it will save you time on setting up the computer.

there's nothing to worry about if you still have the restore CD's so even if you screw up they will be your last resort. you can get the drivers from the compaq website or use a driver extractor like Driver Magician.
