Default Reformat?

Say i have an old p3 and i wanna upgrade to a basic pentium 4, would i have to reformat the harddrive after ive installed all the new hardware or would it be ok, becuase ive heard that it usually works but it pretty buggy.

The hardware differences would have to be minute for it to not screw up. I would format and reinstall, just to be safe.

but lets say that some1 wants to keep the harddrive the way it is, is that still possible?

Well, I suppose you could use it as an extra HD, but you couldn't boot off it or anything like that, just get files off it.

Try it before you do anything drastic... just in case it works.

But, if you're going to change mobos (do they have p3 mobos that take a p4?), you'll have to reformat and reinstall, or use it as a data disk and put in a different master.
