Default R520 and SM3 problems in Crytek

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/d...513123804.html

It's to be expected with new hardware of course, but yeah people at xtremesystems are thinking this is just adding to the delay of this particular card

good thing they caught problems like these early

i wonder what would be the look on ATi's chairman's face when he finds out that the new R520 gpu gfx cards didn't work with any PS3.0 game

but ati will still be competitive, since they said that they were eventually going to move to 32pipelines with the R520 core (more than the G70's 24)

well, it's actually 24 pipelines for the R520, but it's a marketing trick because each of the 24 pipelines is equivelant to 1.2 of the current style pipelines which then totals out to '32' pipelines in the end.

dhw200 is an unknown quantity at this point

Yea, im personally glad they caught it early on. ATI really needs this PS 3.0. Does anybody really know when games are gonna start using 24 pipes? right now, an 8 pipe 6600 GT will see you through just fine

huh?? pipeline=how much a gfx card renders (er..whatever it renders )

the more pipelines there are, the more efficient it is and the better it performs, since it can render more "pipelines"

Also the clock speed of the core matters. But pipelines are just as important.

Yeah pipes are very important

ATI's newest fad will be all games working with shader model 3, but you will all get multicolored hippy colors. They will call this LSD mode.

ATI Fanboys will brag about this new feature.
