Default need optical drive for older computer?

I have a hp pavilion a220n computer, which I bought around 2002, give or take a year. I would like to replace the cd drive which has been gasping its last breaths.

I do not know if the newer optical drives will have any compatability problems with the old motherboard. Of course the motherboard has no sata ports.

Does anyone know if any of optical drives for sale on newegg came out 5 or 6 years ago and are still good?

Any IDE drive should work fine.
