Question HL2 error caused by memory ??

Every game I play runs fine, no problems. I recently tried playing HL2 again but when I do I allways get "The instruction at 0x241f9467 referenced memory at 0x0106f5c0. The memory could not be read". After this I click ok and it terminates the game. Any suggestions whats going on ?

If you think it's the memory, do a goolgle for Memtest86, burn it onto a floppy and diagnose your RAM.

Have you got your latest Steam updates?

Yeah, definately run a mem-test. You could also try reinstalling HL2, as it appears it's got the wrong memory address allocations.

If this only happens with HL2, then either your other games aren't using your RAm the same, or something's up with the installation of HL2. If you've done any tweaking of the installation of HL2, check those changes out. If not, a reinstall might help.

Before that, though, run the mem-test and see what happens.

I'll run memtest86 soon and see what it says.
