Default Doess the HDD affect gaming

Does the Harddrive specs affect gaming that much? Right now im using an older hdd on my new pc I built because I was having problems installing it on the new hdd. In a week or so ill go install vista on the new hdd and use that.
but will i notice a big difference in gaming performance when I go to my new hdd which is alot newer, sorry i dont really know the specs of the older one but its about 4 years old

It depends on how much caching is done, as well. Some games cache for seemless game play, and if it is a slower drive you'll get a lot longer thrashing going on which can adversely effect the performance. It usually isn't a big change, though, but like I said it depends on how the game engine utilizes down time.

There is a difference, but not too much.
