Default ddr or ddr2

is it worth the extra 30$ to go from 2x512ddr at 400 mhz to 2xddr2 at 533mhz ram?

Well it depends, if your CPU has a 1066mhz bus than get it. If it is only 800mhz than get the DDR PC-3200.

At those speeds DDR will outpeform DDR2

And once you put it into an AMD system, any good DDR will rape that DDR2 : )

You can't just decide whether you want to use DDR or DDR2, your memory controller dictates the memory interface and it'll support one or the other. LGA775 will take DDR2, apart from that you're stuck with good old 184pin DDR.

I'd take the DDR1s anyday.

Not all LGA775 take DDR2, some take DDR, depends on the chip set, and some can take one or the other, as with the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130495 So you can pick DDR for now and use DDR2 later if you want.
