Connecting PC to Tube HDTV

A while back I purchased a DVI to HDMI cable and after a lot of fuss I have given up on trying to connect my PC to my 30" Samsung SlimFit Tube HDTV using this cable. (The comp recognizes it as a "Digital Display" but when told to expand screen to this device, it doesn't show up on the TV.)

I have decided to try using a VGA to Component Cable and was wondering if this setup will work in 1080i HD:

Video Card:
ASUS EAX1600Pro 512Mb PCIe

HDTV:
Samsung SlimFit 30" (480i, 720p and 1080i compatible)

Cable:
eBay.ca: 12FT Premium VGA to RCA Component Cable For PC RGB HDTV (item 160101814365 end time 06-Apr-07 19:29:25 EDT)
