Default cd rom problem

I recently unistalled a program that i installed and when my cd rom ejected the cd after the unistallation of the program i won't close anymore. I checked the driver and nothing seems to be wrong. I tried inserting other cds but i would just eject after I insert the cd. it even opens the tray even if there is no cd in it. If there is anyone here who have encountered the same problem. I really need your help.

I had this problem with a Polaroid CD burner once; it totally died not long after.

But before you go and buy another one, have you checked to make sure the cables that hookup to the CD drive are secure?

Also, if you have a spare CD drive you may want to hook it up to your comp and see if it does the same thing.
