blue screen of death problem

hi all

I am wondering if anyone can assist me with regards to this blue screen of death problem i am encountering..

whenever i try and install the windows updates (It gets stuck at initialising installation) that have been downloaded i get a blue screen of death with the following error msg

0X0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xECDDDB7C 0xB9918A20 0x0000000)

does anyone know how to fix it, or at least how to find the problem?
