Default activate SMART

does anyone know how to activate the SMART feature on a hard drive? if u dont know wat it is its this thing that tells you when somethings wrong with your hard drive and when theres an error it will tell you how long until it will fail? any help is appreciated thanks.

In your BIOS settings I think, though my HD's have SMART enabled but my BIOS doesn't have that option.
