Default video card driver not updating

Ok so twice I got the blue screen of death and it has something to do with the nv4_mini.sys driver. It's a nividia driver. So I decided to update my driver. I uninstalled the old one, rebooted, used driver cleaner, rebooted then installed the new driver. So when I go and look at the driver version it still has the old version and date. So I don't know how to get it to update to the new version. Is this some kind of bug? And if the version still says the old version does that mean it is the old driver or could the new driver still be updated but it just doesn't say it is? I'm confused.
