a very old computer + qbasic & parallel port = Controlled LEDs?

OK...

So, we are trying to output/input using the parallel port to create an led which turns on when the door of a model house is opened, thus activating the security system. Then in doing this would turn off the lights with something like a command programmed to, for example "reset", and all the lights would turn back off..
