Default usb/keyboard problem

When I start up my pc, I can't get past the first screen. It says press f1 to continue, but my wireless keyboard doesnt work all of a sudden and neither does the wired keyboard. It's like all usb ports stopped working for no reason. So now i cant use my pc. Any ideas?

Default Re: usb/keyboard problem

try getting an old ps2 keyboard and mouse, boot up with those. also, have you checked the batteries on your keyboard and mouse? sometimes when the batteries are low the range is decreased, you may have to replace batteries or move the receiver close or both. something may also be blocking or jamming the signal. also this is true of some older systems not sure of the new ones, the computers bios may not let the computer boot without the keyboard in the ps2 slot or it dont initially power up the usb ports. I would try it with a ps2 keyboard or find a ps2 adaptor for your usb receiver may just do the trick.
