Default Sony Viao Packed up! monitor issue

hi everyone

my name is john new to the forum

ok my problem is this, i switched on my sony vaio this afternoon to be confronted with the windows xp logo screen covered with green lines, it continues to boot normally and when it gets to the logon screen, i cant see it the screen changes to full screen with black and blue lines and after about 30 seconds restarts and does the same process all over again.

im guessing either my LCD screen is gone or the graphics card is fried but if anyone has any other ideas or for that matter any possible solutions to try i would be really grateful.

i checked the RAM and that is secure in the slots.
I am unable to check anything else inside as it is the V2M model and the monitor is the computer, so i cant open it up just to let you know.

any thoughts appreciated

Thanks everyone
John

One of the easiest solutions is to find a second monitor or lcd and see if the problem occurs when that one is attached to your viao. If the problems still exists, then it might be the video card or something else in the pc.
