Default Screen goes black.

I've been having a problem with my comp. After a random amount of time, my computer will just kind of shut itself down. It doesn't turn itself off but the screen will just go black and the monitor light will flicker on and off. I've just replaced my gfx card (Which I'm annoyed about, what a waste of money ) so it isn't that. My temperatures are ok and there is no problems with my monitor.

Any help?

Is it when your idle or working?

If its when your idle its most likely a power setting. Browse to control panel and open power management. Look through the settings.

Please post your results.

It does it mostly when I'm working. I've never really left my computer idle for long periods of time.

As for power management, do you mean power options? If so then:

Turn off monitor = Never
Turn off hard disk = Never
System Standby = Never

And under UPS it says "The UPS service is currently stopped"

try another monitor if possible to see if the problem still occurs with it. sounds like it could be a power issue or the pc is crashing. is there any hdd activity after the screen goes blank?

I'm not too sure if there's any HDD activity. How would I tell?

Ah. Well I can't tell if there's any activity until it goes off, which can be anytime As for the light, I don't see it flash up much, is there anyway I can force it to flash when my screen is black.

i don't know unless you keep something running in the background that would use the hdd fairly constantly.
