theres a memtest you can run from a floppy and a cd, http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ , that will check your ram without windows, , i may have missed this due to speed reading but he said he has no OS so why the **** would you give him memtest for windows :S

ur overheating dude, same thing happened to my old amd.. try opening the side case and aiming a house fan into the case see if that works.
