I recently replaced the heatsink on a Pentium 4 Machine and also applied some Arctic Silver Thermal compound to it to minimize the heat. Everything seems to be working fine as the temperatures have dropped about 10 degrees Celsius. However, now the hard drive seems to be making these grinding noises that come in short little pulses and the system locks up. I checked and made sure no foreign objects got into the heatsink or anything but it just keeps screwing up.:eek:
