Default power cords

I left my power cord for my mini-ITX computer, which is a 12V PSU, somewhere. I was wondering if I would be able to boot it with my laptops charger, which the output is 16V, without side-effects? If there will be side-effects what are they?

Snap, crackle...Oh, and pop I would think.

It could damage the motherboard, or the system might just fail to power on. Purchase a compatible PSU for a Mini ITX PC at 12v.
