Default Moniter & video card Compatibility

Alright. I have the Nvidia Geforce 7950 (1 gb video card) and i have a 19 inch Viewsonic monitor. I just cant find anything to get them to connect. DVI cables don't fit and i have no clue what adapter/splitter i should get. Would a DVI to VGA adapter work?

PS. The adapter/splitter i should get can be for a Standard monitor cable or a DVI cable.

Yes, you need a DVI VGA adapter.
