Hmmm, I would still remove the heatsink. You should be able to tell if the heatsink is making good contact with the cpu from the pattern (of paste) left on them. If you see a minor problem, like to much or to little paste, you can fix that and you can straight-edge the heatsink and cpu heatspreader to see if either of them is warped.
Sigh. After taking it apart. Removing the old thermal paste, applying new thermal paste, and reseating it. I get this. All cores now seem a bit jumpy. For no reason. I'm just using firefox.
~And after I closed all processes and opened up Over Drive again.
