| Hi, this is my first post and would like to get some input from you guys, if you may. MOBO: P4p8X asus DVD and HDD: asus SATA Here is my problem. My old hard drive (IDE) was getting small and make some noise at start up, so i decided to get me a new SATA hard drive. I transfered all my data and OS from old to new drive using a third party software (Spotmau) (see note below). Then i proceed to set my BIOS for the new hardware, but when i look into disk management i see that the dvd and hdd under "Device type" are set as IDE, not SATA. These are the settings in bios. (American Trends) MAIN: (HDD) Third IDE master set to [auto] IDE conf.: Onboard IDE operate mode=[enhance mode] Enhance mode support: S-ATA BOOT: Quick boot: [enable] Add on rom display mode support: [S-ATA] I asked Asus people and they answered, " IDE and SATA are so similar that could show as either one". I don't buy it!! What you think? Note: Spotmau software does not do 1/2 of what they claim. Don't waste your money. ![]() |

| dl siw (gtopala) and see what it says SIW | Download ALSO dl hdtune: HD Tune I believe one of the futuremark apps, (3dmark05 and 06, not sure on 3) give you detailed system specs for free I do know on my mobo, I can set the HD to IDE mode...so maybe dl'ing software is optional and you don't have to do what I say ![]()

| Most motherboards treat sata drive as IDE. ITs not a problem.
