HP DVD Writer 640c problem

this drive i just bought it is suppose to read/writ on DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R DL. Well the problem is when i go to burn on DVD+RW, and DVD+R DL it doesn't reconize the disc.

can someone help me

firmware is probably the problem. look through any documentation that came with the burner and see if it mentions an update is necessary for these capabilities

it says that the firmware for the drive is up to date

doese anyone have any help for me any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

oh and a correction on the drive name it is called a HP dvd640

also an update on the problem the drive is now not reading or writing on my DVD+RW/DVD+R DL media i use Memorex DVD's could it just be the media, should i try using different DVD's.

ok, i fixed it, it was the IDE cable it must have been bad or somthing.
