Ok one day my device is working and loading programs,...then all of a sudden it stops and i see a splat in the device manager.

The solution my computer guy [that sold me the computer] gives me is to remove vista and put xp back on instead.

Before doing this and having to reinstall everything again for the second time this week does anyone else have any suggestions or helpful tips that might get this cd/dvd rom to work with windows vista...or is there another rom i can get that is compatible?

I have tried to go into the device manager and uninstall then scan for new hardware and it keeps coming up with a splat [the ! in a yellow triangle]
