thanks man.
Im trying to overclock my cpu now.
My mobo provided me with a software called Super step.
it has tabs for fan, voltage, temp, clock, and an alarm.

I tried getting the clock to 230 which would be 230X9 = 2070.
I ran prime test for like 5 hours now.

So far it finished test 16 and no errors
and now its running primiary test m17511097 and its on 1.59%.

My question is that am i doing ok?
or should i still try oc with the bios instead of this software?

Only use the software to see how high it goes. Then use the BIOS to maintain the overclocked speed.

thanks. the bios seemed more legit.
Im up to 1.980ghz so far and everything seems to run fine.
After im done oc, do i just leave the bios as is? like the ht multiplier and the ram speed?

If it's stable, yes.

well im up to 2.16ghz.
I ran orthos for an hour and no errors.
i also ran super pi for about 30 mins and no errors.
Im planning on going to 2.3-2.4.
Should i raise the volt now? if so how much.
both my cpu cores temp are staying below 40 on idle. My mobo stays around 36 idle.

am i doing good so far?
should i run a differnt test?

What's the voltage now?

You could probably increase it to about 1.5V without too much heat increase.

With sufficient cooling, the K8 processors can take up to about 1.65V safely

But that is more common with single core CPU's, which don't produce as much heat.

well i bought the arctic cooler pro.
i raised the voltage to 1.4 right now and im at 2.293ghz.
ive been running prime95 for about 5 hours and no errors.

Should i go higher, how high should i go without raising the volt?

and what temps should my mobo or my cores be between o idle?

Just raise it higher without raising the voltage first. If it gets errors, then raise the voltage.

Generally when overclocking I don't worry so much about idle temps. I just focus on the maximum load temps, and make sure they're not too hot.
just don't let it go above 60ºC

hey just to let you know that.
I lowered my volt to 1.35 and i got my oc up to 2.43. i ran orthose for about 9hours and no errors.
My idle temps stay between 35-39.
Im not sure about load...everests temps dont seem accurate enough.

What do you think?

keep pushing that chip, 2.43GHZ at 1.35V isn't bad.
