Default flickering monitor

I turned my monitors on the morning, to find one of them flickering, really quite noticeabley. Almost like it turns off momentarily, perhaps 1/10th of a second - because it's like a black flicker.

At first, i thought it was my graphics card. But after taking the DVI cable out of the graphics card, changing the plug socket, and turning off and on the monitor it still continues to do it.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing it ? or is it simply broken

Thanks.

A flickering monitor is the result of the refresh rate being set too low. To fix this go to your control panel, select Display, Settings Tab, Advanced, Monitor tab, then under monitor settings select a higher refresh rate from the drop down menu. If that doesn't fix it then you have a bad monitor.
