| Going slightly insane here... but a simple question, is it possible to use Serial ATA hard drives as external without an external enclosure for them? As far as I understand, Serial ATA is hot swappable without needing the support of an external enclosure like IDE, but there doesn't seem to be a realistic way of getting power to an external drive without having to go through an enclosure. Also, I found this when I was looking for an internal to external card; http://www.cwol.com/serial-ata/sata-...-external.htm, but for the life of me I can't find a cable that would allow me to use the power port on that. Thanks in Advance. Edit: umm, meant to post this in buying/upgrading forum but won't let me delete it to repost ![]() |

| Serial ATA's drives do not run to USB/SCSI. They are controlled by the onboard bios of your Mobo. If you ran a long Sata cable from your mobo somehow to an external "box" of some kind???? Why in the world would you want to do this??? External drives, whether SCSI or USB are not mountalbe drives anyway. ????????? What are you trying to do here? Here's the dope: http://www.barefeats.com/hard41.html
