Default Edit monitor's EDID info?

Does anyone know how to (or if it's possible to) edit a monitor's EDID (the bit of info the monitor sends to the gpu letting it know specs to run at)?

Reason I ask. I have a dell 24" lcd that showing up in Display Props as a "generic non-plug-n-play device" and I can only get a resolution of 1280 x 1024 or something. It should be running at 1920 x 1200. I can force it in catylist but I'm more so trying to fix the heart of the issue.

I recently hooked up a Samsung 22" lcd and the EDID it gave the computer was the manuf name, date, frequencies, supported resolutions, etc. All correct. The same app that fetches this info for the Dell shows that it's an "HP 150" from 1990 with like one or two resolutions.

If I can find a way to edit that EDID info, it should solve all issues. FYI, this is with all latest drivers.

Any ideas?
