DVD drive problem....

my family computer:

Amd Athlon 3500+
1GB DDR
Winfast Skt 939 Mobo
DVD/RW Drive (not sure of brand or model)

ok..so the DVD drive can format DVD-R discs both 8x or 16x, will format CD-RW discs however it wont always eject after this process or after files have been added to the disc..

to get it to eject the computer has to be restarted which is a long process to do considering all that needs to be done is to open the drive

any suggestions? cheers in advance

Hmm, thats pretty wierd. I would try maybe updating the firmware to the optical drive. What application are you burning with? As a temporary work around, you can always put a paper clip into the small hole in front of the drive, it will pop the drive open.

or what has helped for me when that happened a few times...just go to My Computer, right click on the drive..and select "Eject"...it might work so it's worth a shot
