Question DVD/CD-ROM problems

Hello,

I just came across a computer that is having a cd-rom issue. It will read DVDs, but will not read CDs. I've tried uninstalling all drivers and then re-installing. I tried audio, data, and cd-r cds and none will even mount to the drive.

Then I can put any DVD (DVD-R/W, DVD-R, and plain DVDS) in and it will run perfect.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Luke

yes... old&bold is correct. some of the older dvd roms don't read cd's. if this is almost new drive and is under warranty, force this. if not, is very hard to find out where is the problem and repair it.
