Default Disabling Network card after shutdown?

Each time my system is turned off my eithernet card is still active with my modem. Its an onboard eithernet card and i was wondering how can disable the power to the card when my system is off?

Yes it is a problem when my modem is sending and recieving packets when my computer is off , it usually needs to be resetted after couple days and its annoying
