Question Destructive System Restore

I came home one day and found to my dismay that my teenage son had performed a 'destructive system restore'. Is there any way I could recover all my lost files and programs?

If you can't restore to the day that he did it, can you go back any futher? If not you could try some of these programs. I haven't tried any myself so I can't comment.
