Default Dell Dimension 3000 question (lol)

My sister has one of these and I sent her an extra stick of ram since its just sitting here doing nothing. As I was walking her through the installation process over the phone, she told me she saw a message as soon as she booted up. I don't recall exactly what the message said but, it said something along the lines of "push F1 to continue or F2 to run the setup (BIOS)". So she went into the bios and it detected the extra stick of ram (total being 512mb (2 256mb sticks installed)) but, when she boots up to windows, it only detects 256mb.. Anyone have an idea of why that is?

I tried going to the dell forums but had problems making an account and logging in. Thanks in advance.
