I've had this thing for a couple years and recently it completely stopped working. Not a single disc will read, nothing. It has occasionally had problems reading in the past but always started working again.

I've:

Check connections to everything
Cleaned the lense
Checked firmware
Made sure to try brand new discs
Tried 30+ discs
Tried for multiple hours to get it to work
Cleaned it more

Any ideas on what I can do? This is extremely frustrating.

Do you have the jumpers set correctly?? if its the only drive on the ide channel then make it master not Cable select!! If it is already then ummm buy a new drive!
