...because the e6700, has a 10x multiplier...making it a monster overclocker.

Doesn't Newegg use a automatic supply and demand formula.

Yes, they do. But in the case of th e6700 v. e6750....the e6700 is way more expensive, due to its very high multiplier.

The multiplier and supply and demand.

So how do I figure what the multiplier is? If I didn't understand a little bit. I would be hard pressed to buy the e6700 which has a lower FSB as per the spec compared to the e6750. For more than a hundred dollars. I would think I was getting ripped.

The e6750's multiplier is x8. Just divide the CPU's frequency, by it's default FSB speed.

So with a higher multiplier. I can take the 10x by increasing the FSB to 400 ( maybe wishful thinking) and potentially get it to 4.0Ghz? Whereas the 8x with a 400 FSB will only get me to 3.2Ghz.

Yes, this usually means higher O/C with more free multipliers.

That's correct. I'm assuming it would be hard to reach 400, with the multiplier set at 10, with just air cooling. It would be easier with a high end watercooling kit.
