| I have a bit of extra cash and am wondering if such an upgrade is worth it. Other than the size difference is there really a reason to switch? Does two inches really make a difference? Aren't Lcds supposed to look better than crts? (i thought i could delete the other thread of mine after making this one. Someone should.)Are lcd monitors even the best to get? I just want the largest screen possible (doesn't have to be lcd) for the cheapest price and best value. I am just under the assumption that lcd's are current the best. |

| Nvidiot | it all depends on the contrast ratio on how it will look.. and you might want a low response time like 8ms if you game.. otherwise, i say you stick to ur crt for a bit and from what i see, dlp projectors are awesome.. only those cost a fortune if you want a resolution higher than 1024x768... or 800x600 at that...

| Well, why aren't there any crt's that are large? Is there any disadvantage other than size with buying this 21 inch monitor instead of the 19 inch lcd? Do lcd's generally look better or worse for gaming? I really want a larger screen. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4276&CatId=172 If not, these lcds looks good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009078 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014090 Isn't 700:1 better than 500:1? What do these numbers mean? Which lcd up above is better? I am willing to spend around 450 if the size is right. If not, i'll go for no more than 250 bucks for a 19 inch lcd. |

| I don't want to pay 200 bucks more for a one inch difference. 19 inch monitors are the best deals. the widescreens ARE pretty **** cool, though. Are the contrast ratios really that important? Is the 80 dollar price difference worth it when the only difference between the two 19 inchers is 6ms? Also, what's wrong with the crt i linked to? Is there anything worse about crt's when compared to lcds when it comes to picture quality? The widescreen monitors are peaking my interest, but the best buy one is expensive. |

| Nvidiot | the lg for 500 or close to it because of a sale is a **** good deal compaired to other monitors around its size... well at least for the contrast ratio, or are you talking about the viewsonic, cuz that is also a very good deal and that crt you linked, i find nothing wrong with it, it can display 1600x1200, great resolution... and ya i know what ya mean about it costing alot of money for an extra inch or two i don't think you'd notice a difference between 6ms and 8ms... i got to play on my friends 18ms and it was just bad.. or was it 16?? i tried playing cod2 on it and it ghosted like crazy if your no worried about the extra bulk, and are on a budget, i say you go for the crt if you want a 19 inch widescreen those tend to start at about 230 dollars, and range to 260, you could take a look at those, i'll get some links to those as well... i'm considering a 19 inch widescreen in the near future http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...SubCategory=20

| well, what i want to know is how much taller the 19 inch 4:3 ratio monitor is than the 19 inch 16:3 ratio monitor. Since they are measured in diagonal size, i know that the widescreen monitor is taking a hit when it comes to height but by how much? Now that i look into it, the 21 inch crt monitor has the same exact view area as a 19 inch lcd. I bet that my 17 inch monitor's actual viewable screen size is much smaller than two inches when compared to the 19 inch lcd screens. Obviously crt monitors have a much smaller viewing screen than what they are stated as being in size. Anyway, i have narrowed it down between two.
