Talking Upgrading

Is now a good time to upgrade my socket 939 athlon system? Im gonna keep my 8600GT and upgrade to a 8800GT when the prices come down in the UK, what i am planning to is:

i have an old packard bell computer but the motherboard has seen better days, im gonna remove that mobo and put my mobo in which has a athlon 3800+, 2GB DDR and onboard graphics,

for christmas im getting these parts which i will put in my current case:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ CPU - Cheap at Ebuyer!
Asus M2N-E SLI Nvidia nForce 500 SLI MCP Socket AM2 8channel audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer
Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4(4-4-4-12) E.P.P. Heat Spreader Lifetime Warranty - Ebuyer
Thermaltake TR2 500W PSU 12cm Fan 12vATX 20+4pin - Ebuyer
Use current 8600GT

all good?

Gaming? It looks decent.. Its your money so you can decide Intel vs. AMD, BUt ppl are going to come into this thread and try to bash you for choosing AMD... Looks pretty solid to me..

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 Socket 775 2.4GHz (800MHz) L2 2MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor - Ebuyer
MSI P31 Neo-F iP31 Socket 775 8 channel audio PCI-E ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer

E4600 have much more overclocking potential than 5600+

And even if you don't overclock E4600 would be similar to the performance of 5600+ at stock

Here is a review for E4600

i would go with a 5000+ black edition if you are going to stick with AMD.
AMD Black Edition Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Socket AM2 2.6GHz Energy Efficient L2 1MB (2x512KB) Retail Boxed Processor - Note does not include heatsink or fan - Ebuyer
its cheaper than the 5600 and the e4600, and should overclock like a beast.
e4600 will be faster, though. especially if it will overclock well.
i dont know which consumes less power, i cant find any consumption charts on the e4600.

hmm ill think about the intel option but i want to get a Sli mobo just incase

are these respected 775 mobos?

ASUS P5K AiLifestyle Series iP35 Socket 775 eSATA 8channel Audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer

one other thing which kinda sucks is i wont have enough money for either CPU so im probarbly now looking at a 4400+ :S
