Default Suggested upgrade for outdated rig

So, what would you upgrade for this rig, it's my friends:

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon 4000+ 2.4Ghz
2GB (4x512MB) Corsair XMS
BFG 7800GT OC
80GB HDD (idk how he uses that)

I'm thinking for performance, cause he wants to play CoD4, going for a conveniently cheap AMD dual core (suggestions please, I've been keeping up with Intel moreso than AMD lately). Then, of course, I'd heavily suggest another HDD cause they are fairly cheap, but somehow he is surviving on 80GB. Anyways, what do you think?

This is close to what im building. Any combination of these would do him well for awhile. Id def go with the eVGA tho... the option to step up is just too nice, im sure in a month or two he'll have more then enough to step up to 8800GTS. also, all AMD's are rather cheap, its a nice time to be an AMD fan(Boy)

just throw an 8800gt in there and one of these, and it should be ok. It's socket 939 so it isn't future proof, but the videocard can last him for his next rig too. Oh and yeah a new HDD would help.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Processor ADA3800DAA5BV - 2.0GHz, 1MB Cache, 1000MHz (2000 MTs) FSB, Manchester, Dual-Core, OEM, Socket 939, Processor at TigerDirect.com

hes got a great socket 939 Asus motherboard though, so You could OC this cpu to around 2.5 or 2.6ish especially with that ram.
