| Well, a friend of a friend wants me to build him a new PC for college. He's looking to spend about $1,000 total so I figure spec out the hardware for $700, XP Pro, Office and AVG Free should bring it to about $1,000. So... What would you guys suggest? Both from the AMD and Intel side of things. |

| Future ex-member | well if he need something that cheap, I would go AMD cause there pricces are so low, well I am not looking this up, but for a cpu: amd 3500 venice (2.2ghz) 1gb ram, 200gig HD (WD caviear series is nice) GPU: well on the nvidia side I think you should be able to squeeze out a 7600gt. PSU: I would at least go with a 450 watt model, coolmax and antec make some good reliable units. mobo: you can get something for like 90 bucks.
