Default Sorry to bother you guys but..external Sound card?

What is a good external sound card? Or PCI express ( the little connector one right? ).

And if you could help me understand what the difference between a USB external sound card and a PCI_express one? I mean I don't care much about super great sound quality, but I want a decent card. My onboard sound is plain broke, it's probably the worst sounding sound I have ever heard in all the 15 years or so I have been building computers.

Well I can get what I need as far as money is concerned. But I don't need to waste money on something I won't fully appreciate. And that card is great except I don't want a card that uses a PCI slot. I am keeping an air pocket inside my case for my video card.

So I need an external one,or MAYBE possibly a PCI-Express one. The PCI express slot is above my videocard on the backside, so I think the sound card would not generate heat there. I think? Sound cards produce heat, or very much?

not so fast there bro, Extreme Audio cards are just rebranded Creative Live! Cards, and don't use the X-Fi Processors
