| i'll let one of the card guys answer that. im not the resident expert on video cards. i've never had an x1950 card, so i dont know if it is better than the 7900gs. i did have a 7900gs (actually 2 of them in SLI) and i really liked them. i had an hd2900 and thats how i got experience with ati's user interface and overclocking utilities. by the way your mobo doesnt need to be anything special to overclock your video card, you do it thru software. i think the 7900gs uses a little less power than the 1950. not sure. anyone? |

| its a close race between X1950 and 7900GS either one is good. Im not sure which is necessarily the better, but still i would go for the 7900GS.. possibly OC nicely to a GTX.

| Renowned Budgeting Master | the age old battle of the 7900GS vs the X1950PRO...two extremely close cards. Either one is a good choice however the 7900GS once overclocked will beat out the X1950PRO overclocked by a little bit, however once overclocked the 7900GS takes a lot more power...close to 110 watts at 600/800
