So is there a big price spike buying the parts in Germany compared to US or not?

the Euro rate alone will kill the USD. it's 1.31 USD to 1 Euro today... and that's not bad since a few months ago it was almost 1.80 to 1.
but yes buying in general in germany is pricey... that is, if your not a local.
