Question Setting up a low budget PC, with as much power as possible

Hey guys
as it is christmas I got money again.
And I really need a new computer, I use it for CG/3D/Rendering purposes, also doing video cutting purposes.
So I need power
But my problem:
As I´m a student, my budget is not really high.
I want to spend about 1500€ to 2000€

My question to you,
I´ve been quite up to date in hardware and what is best for which purpose, but I´m not anymore

Would you be so kind and give me some advices which hardware I should buy.

Thx for your answers
Greatz and a happy christmas,
Michael

the exchange course is 1€ = 1.3184$
so the price is about 1900$
case is not important for me, I´ll use my old one again.
Aaah, and what I should have mentioned, I want to have a intel core duo CPU

So you can spend about $1000 to $1200 us currency. You should be able to get

CPU: core 2 duo e 6300
Mobo: skt lga775 ds3
Ram: 2 1gb of ddr2 667mhz
HDD: 250gig sata2 or 320gig
Case: centrion 5
1 cdrw (reading)
1 dvd burner (burning)
400W power supply
I am assuming you dont do much playing video games, so maybe a 6600, or even a 7600gt.

EDIT: hhhmmm, what I have converted is that your lowest is about 994 dollars american. Is there a differnce between what you use, and German Mark???

uuhm, you´re getting something wrong.
Germany has the Euro as its currency
and the euro worths more than the US $
so I could spend about 1900$ to 2500$

I take it your going to buy from media markt? or are you going to buy online? online is usually cheaper, depending on shipping... but as it was stated...

E6300 Core 2 Duo
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3
2x1GB DDR2-667 (or 800) RAM
7900GT maybe even one of the ATI FireGL cards for the rendering like the V4300 or V5100 cards if this machine isn't for gaming.
A 550-600W Forton or Antec PSU
160-250GB SATA II hard drive(s)
A decent sony or NEC DVD burner
