Default Server processors for gaming rigs

Whats up guys. I was wondering, whats the purpose of using a server processor like an opteron or a xeon in a gaming setup? How do these processors compare to normal desktop cpu's in terms of gaming?

People use server processors like Xeons for gaming? That's something new.

Maybe hmammen can answer this for me? I know he has an opteron. I've also seen reviews on newegg for these cpu's that mention gaming with them.

the Opterons gamed well, some of the Xeons like the x3210 performs well in gaming:

Newegg.com - Intel Xeon X3210 Kentsfield 2.13GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - Retail

thats the product... brb with a Benchmark

X3210 Xeon Core 2 Quad: Overclocking Monster in Sheep's Clothing! - Page 11 - Doom 3 & Halo

here ya go... the x3210 performs behind the qx6700 (around the q6600) but it'll overclock as well as the q6600 if you get the g0 (people got decent overclocks with B3's)
