Default SATA hdd plugs

Ok, so I'm a little behind on the whole SATA thing and right now i'm still using IDE for my hdd. I was looking on the back of a SATA hdd and noticed that there is of course the SATA plug in then a power plug in that looks like an elongated SATA connector. So I figure hmm this looks like one of the other chords that comes with my new motherboard. Then i think, what is the other end for? are there 2 ends to the SATA power chord just for another harddrive? or does the other end of that power cable link somewhere else as well

you should have a cord going from your psu to your hard drive, and another from your motherboard to your sata drive

yeah thats what the power chord is, it has a power receiver from the PSU but then it splits for 2 SATA power connections for i guess 2 hard drives
