Default Review Gaming Machine Purchase

I might be buying the below machine off of craigs list. It is listed as $700 but I'm thinking I could get him down to $650 or $600...

The specs are -

Gigabyte 965P S3
Core 2 Duo E6400
2 GB Corsair RAM
250 GB HDD
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB
500 watt PSU
LG DVD Burner (Dual Layer)
Firewire Card
Onboard Gigabit LAN
Onboard Realtek HD Audio
19" Samsung 940BW Widescreen LCD
Logitech MX3200 Keyboard and Mouse bundle
Insignia 2.1 speakers. (2 desk speakers and 1 small sub)

And this is the case it comes with - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...re)-_-11144151

I currently have the machine in my sig below. My plan is to possibly purchase this machine and give my other machine to my son. I can take parts from mine and put it in the new one if that is advisable.

What do all the experts think?

that is a decent machine because of the nice monitor however you can probably build something close to that and then add the monitor for the same price.

??? I don't know what you mean by the 8800gt... That isn't listed. Its a gts 320 which is what I have now except mine is a EVGA and the new machine would be XFX...

The idea is to get my son a new mahcine for his gaming. Right now he uses mine and all of his games are on mine. That's why if I had some items in my present machine that are better I would swap them with the new and give my son the old.

Apologies Kobe, I read what you said again and now makes sense... I am buying this machine and not building...

Another one just came up for the same price but looks to be better. Here are the specs.

Case
LIAN-LI PC-A70B Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Motherboard
ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Ultimate Gaming Motherboard

Processor
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

HDD
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

Video Card
XFX GeForce 8600GTS 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Memory

3 Gig Crucial Ballistix 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Memory

Power Supply
Antec earthwatts EA500 ATX12V v2.0 500W Power Supply

Optical Drive
ASUS 20X DVD+-R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA

OS
Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP2C

I know it is still probably outdated still but better than the first. Would it be worth $600 - $700? Doesn't look to have a monitor and speakers included like the other...

Not in his price range.

In all honesty though you should be able to build yourself a computer better then those for about the same price. The first build looks to be a pretty good deal with the monitor and everything included. If you really don't want to build one, I would go with the first.

Thats a good deal (the first) well its decent, and you can sell off stuff for extra performance like the Video Card, get a HD 3850 or 8800gs, and it'll perform better and be less of a power hog

also ask which PSU he has (like direct name)

Thats a pretty good PC, Wolfdale, 4850, great PSU. You can get it lower by downgrading some parts as well.
(Am i the first to recommend the 4850 in a proper build format?)
